Welcome to Tesla, California! The Tesla coal mining town was located in Corral Hollow in eastern Alameda County, California. It was about 12 miles southeast of Livermore on Tesla Road. The Tesla coal mines became the State's second largest coal producer and the leading coal producer for nearly a decade starting in 1897. Four miles down the canyon to the east was her sister town, Carnegie, where brick and terra cotta products were made from Tesla clay. On these pages we will explore the history of Tesla and Carnegie. This will also serve as an archive for historic materials and news about recent developments concerning these historic properties. The information and images have come from over 50 years of research compiled by myself and my late partner, Earle E. Williams. The links below will give you more insights into this fascinating place. -- Dan L. Mosier.
